A puppy is not a present. Pets are for life.

A very sad and unfortunate reality of the Holidays is an increased number of dogs and cats dumped at shelters...either because they were gifts that were not welcomed, or because the puppy or kitten did not come instantly trained and ready t
o be a perfect pet, causing no inconvenience to their new "owner"'s life.

Please help us spread the word and help decrease the heartaches these returns cause these poor innocent animals.

Pets are for life! Not for a season, not for current house only, not for a period of time in a person's life when they are convenient. They are family and they deserve to be loved by their families for their whole lives.

Thanks you and please share!

Happy Holidays! Choppergirl, Lena and Angel Oz

Tribute to Oz the Rottweiler by talented artist Skylineaddict

A must watch tribute to my best friend "Oz the Rottweiler" who got his angel wings on September 14, 2012.  Oz fought so hard but lost his battle to Hemangiosarcoma.  For a long time we thought he had beat this horrible cancer.. Oz lived 7.5 quality filled days.

I am very lucky and honored to share this incredible tribute video done by the amazing artist Ankit... Speechless and forever grateful

Godspeed Oz until we meet again

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE - CHICKEN JERKY TREATS - WATCH AND SHARE

IMPORTANT! THIS COULD SAVE YOUR DOGS LIFE!

WATCH IT. SHARE IT. SAVE A DOG'S LIFE.
Dogs are dying from tainted chicken jerky. Chinese manufacturers are doing nothing to make the jerky safe, and the US brands that source it are doing nothing to get it off shelves. Lost Dogs is the true story of how profits trump pet safety in the chicken jerky business.

This is all great news! I pray that he has dodged this bullet and we have more quality time together! I pray pray pray! Sadly his cancer is back so he will be handled with extra special care to ensure he has quality of life until... My heart is shattered but I remain strong and optimistic for my best friend, i owe him all the best and all the love i can give... life is so short and i wish we never had to say goodbye... I am the worst and don't know how i will ever deal with not having oz in my life.....

Prayers for Ozzy boy needed!

Oz yesterday after ER we rushed him to his favorite place, the beach <3

s

Oz the Rottweiler needs your prayers

Oz just celebrated his 6 month anniversary post cancer diagnosis/splenectomy on 7/29/12 <3 Yesterday 7/31/12 I woke up to a very weak Oz.. I knew something was wrong and rushed him into ER only to find that his cancer is back and has created new tumors and he was suffering from a bleed (his cancer Hemangiosarcoma creates tumors that bleed).... They gave him hours to live and told there was nothing more I could do! I called another vet that I have used over the years that specialize in cancer and rushed him up to Hermosa Beach to learn/get a belly wrap... This vets outlook was that he was not going to die from this bleed and he would recover giving him maybe days, weeks or months... My heart is broken, I love Oz more than words could ever express...
So we took him home and made him a cozy place in the living room where I am by his side throughout... He ate dinner last night, got up to do his business and this morning awoke with a big appetite, did his business, woofed at a stranger across the street ;) Came back in chewed on his antler a bit, groomed himself and now sleeping well having doggy dreams... This hurts so much and how i pray this is all just a nightmare i will awake from... but its reality and i would give anything to take Oz's cancer away and give him the long life he deserves... Oz has lived a very full life, even with his cancer and for that i am very thankful and lucky! He is not my dog, he is FAMILY! I will do right by Oz and do everything to assure he never suffers and that his legacy lives on... If you are not friend with Oz on facebook find him here to follow his story or you may donate at the top of the blog to help Oz <3

Oz meeting with a new oncologist tomorrow!

After getting no answers, depleting our savings, and having to play vet myself we are going 2 hours south to a new oncologist, we are very excited!!! I spoke with him today and already feel better about Oz's future vet!

Belfast City Council - Video of Lennox temperment test

http://youtu.be/WZz2V0aCXmI

"The man in the video is David Ryans, hired by the family to do an assessment of Lennox without any prejudice. My understanding is that his assessment concluded that Lennox was not aggressive. His assessment was also ignored by the courts or not permissible in court. Not sure which one. Instead, the unqualified Peter Tallack's assessment was used instead. The other woman has been confirmed as Sandie Lightfoot.

Here it is folks. This video has been marked private and the file has been sent to me anonymously for your viewing.

The video, dated March 15th 2011, is of Sandie Lightfoot, the dog warden responsible for the chain of events that lead to Lennox's murder, and an unknown man. I work with dogs and I know them well, inside and out. I may not be a dog behaviourist but it's more than clear that in this video, Lennox is not showing any signs of aggression what so ever.

Lightfoot and the BCC must be held accountable for their lies and deception. They must be held accountable for thumbing their nose to the mass outpouring from people around the world that begged for Lennox to be spared. They must be held accountable for destroying the Barnes family and messing about with a little girl's dog.

Sadly, Lennox was murdered today at their hands. The BCC continuously claims that Lennox was a very dangerous dog. Rest assured, they are lying. Lying right through their teeth. These murderous bastards used Lennox as a big F.U. to the rest of us. Their plight to kill this dog was NEVER about keeping the public safe. I know that. You know that. They know that.

Lennox is being provoked in this video by the unknown man likely to get a reaction. To test his so called aggressiveness. Guess what? NO AGGRESSION!!!!

In addition to the pictures being shared worldwide of Sandie and Lennox together, now we have this. I urge you to share this!

Not only would the heartless bastards at the BCC allow Lennox's dead body to be returned to the family, they threw out his collar and refused to give it to the little girl Brooke.

Listen up BCC, this is not over. Not for a long shot. If you think for one second people are going to walk away with their tail between their legs, you had better think again. You have awakened a giant. This giant is on a mission. It has only just begun".

. Enjoying every moment of everyday ♥

Lennox, Belfast Dog, To Be Put To Sleep For Resembling Pit Bull RIP Sweet Lennox

What a tragedy.... RIP Sweet Lennox
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” Mahatma Gandhi

Animal Farm Foundation - "

Our hearts go out to the family of Lennox, a family dog who was executed today by the Belfast City Council under the Dangerous Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1991. This law discriminates against "any dog of the type known as the pit bull terrier," a determination that is made by the court based on the dog's physical characteristics, not his behavior or, more important, the owner's behavior.

Wherever breed discriminatory legislation (BDL) has been tried -- abroad and in the US -- it has consistently failed to enhance public safety and protect the public from reckless owners. This paper from the National Canine Research Council outlines the worldwide failures of BDL: http://nationalcanineresearchcouncil.com/uploaded_files/tinymce/World-wide%20Failure%20of%20BSL.pdf

BDL not only fails to meet its objective of public safety, it also wastes precious taxpayer dollars and resources that could otherwise be used to build better communities for people and pets alike. Imagine what could have been accomplished in the two years Belfast spent targeting Lennox? Imagine the improvements that could have been made to the Belfast community, had its leaders invested in effective dog laws instead of being guided by fear?

We hope everyone who advocated for Lennox will continue their efforts for dogs here in the US. Every day places like Denver, Miami-Dade County, Prince George's County (Maryland), and small towns across the country execute family pets like Lennox just because of the way they look. Every day US taxpayer dollars are wasted, US families are torn apart, and US communities fail to thrive because of needless hysteria and ineffective legislation. Every day there is a need -- and an opportunity -- to "Save Lennox."

What are you feeding your dog?

Click on "What are you feeding your dog?"
SNL satire on commercial dog foodMostly Garbage Dog Food. This is closer to the truth than you think. Commercial pet food, even the best known and most expensive brand have had their nutrients altered, adulterated, devitalized and destroyed by heat, coloring, processing, preservatives and other chemicals. Feeding commercial food along with vaccinations is the a very toxic combination... Check out "what oz wants you to now" links to find out more about feeding you best friend better.

Oz the Rottweiler Update Feb 20 2012

OZ UPDATE - So Oz's EKG, Blood work, and Kidneys look GREAT!!! His RBC's were at 44! This made him a candidate for adriamycin/doxorubicin that we will be doing every three weeks for up to 5 treatments, depending on how he handles it... i will not keep him on it if he has side effects affecting his quality of life.. I am stopping the metronomic therapy for now to make sure he handles the adriamycin well.. I don't want to overdo anything and overwhelm his system.. Also all his antioxidents will be held off one week prior and after his treatment. So for the one week in between he will get all of those supplements.. I have been researching like crazy and preparing myself for this appt.. I also read several studies that show antioxidents can interfere with the efficiency of adriamycin/doxorubicin and the oncologist agreed.. My husband said i sounded like an expert ;) Oz will still get a heaping amounts of greens, fish, poultry, and meat (minus beef)... probiotics and unlimited amounts of bone broth.. Oz looks really good and this will hopefully extend his life far past the 3 months they gave him... Much love and forever thankful Oz and U

PS While Oz was in back getting his tests and treatment.. my husband and I went to grab a coffee and low and behold a black lab on the loose and a lady trying to catch him! Oh boy.... so i of course had my husband make a U turn and out I was to "save the day" ;)... This lab was not this woman's dog she was also trying help him.. It took me a 1/2 hour and about a mile of running in high heels i might add to get that lil sh*& ;) but i got him!! and when i did, he gave me a bunch of kisses ahahah... Thankfully "boomer" wearing a collar and tags! We called several numbers on the tags and reached his Grandma she quickly came to pick him up (his dad was out of town).. She was very thankful and also very lucky to have "Boomer" safe and sound.... It made my day to know i was able to help save a life :))

Update on Oz

I just spoke with Oz's vet... He just finished his blood transfusion , his red blood count is holding and no heart arrhythmias post surgery. They have sent in his spleen w/ tumor and a sample of his liver to be biopsied ... We can visit him this afternoon and i can hardly wait to squeeze and kiss our boy!!!! there is no way i can explain how hard this is, Oz is not a dog or a pet. OZ IS FAMILY... i have been thru it before with my last rottie girl Ulla, she had Osteosarcoma. At this point losing my home and everything else is peanuts to health of your family.... I thank you all for your prayers and please pray that Oz's biopsy comes back benign... He has a chance and i will do everything i can to give him every fighting chance. He is a strong and healthy boy!
Thank you so much for your words! They really help us and Oz needs his friends support! We will be starting a Help Save Oz the Rottweiler and will find a way to give back to you!

the photo is of Oz last night before he went into surgery... He was so confused and scared..
